Panchkula, Aug. 30 -- Amid concern over the rising incidence of cardiac arrests, including among younger people, PGIMER Chandigarh and the Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF) have launched a community-level Basic Life Support (BLS) campaign to train ordinary citizens to intervene during the critical minutes before professional medical help arrives.

The initiative, "Bystanders Can Save Lives," has been launched at Shivalik Country Club, Panchkula, by PGIMER Director Prof. Vivek Lal. Under the programme, citizens will be taught to recognise a collapsed person, perform chest compressions and understand the appropriate use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
