Kochi, Feb. 23 -- In a significant development in cases linked to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), an absconding accused surrendered before the Special Court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) here on Monday.

Muhammed Yasser Arafath (34), a native of Neerikkodu in Alangad, Ernakulam district, had been evading arrest in multiple cases registered by the NIA in Kerala under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Investigating officials had earlier announced a cash reward for credible information leading to his capture as part of a broader manhunt for absconding suspects allegedly associated with the organisation.
