Kolhapur, Oct. 1 -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India has approached the Supreme Court seeking its intervention for the relocation of elephant "Madhuri" from Nandani Math in Kolhapur to Vantara, alleging that the temple premises are unsuitable for her long-term welfare.
PETA India, in its petition, has urged the apex court to direct that Madhuri be shifted back to Vantara, where she had earlier been housed.
PETA (The animal rights organisation said it moved the Supreme Court less than 15 days after Madhuri returned to Nandani Math in Kolhapur on September 11-12.
