PESA approval a historic moment for Tribal Communities: Central Sarna Samiti

Ranchi, Dec. 25 -- The Central Sarna Samiti has welcomed the approval of the Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) (PESA) Act by the Jharkhand Cabinet, describing it as a historic and proud moment for Adivasi communities rooted in traditional customs and cultural values.

Central President of the Samiti, Phoolchand Tirkey, said the decision marks the culmination of a centuries-long struggle by tribal communities for self-governance and recognition of their traditional rights.

He stated that the passage of the PESA law reflects the aspirations of indigenous people who have consistently demanded constitutional protection for their social, cultural and administrative systems.
