Miami (United States), June 6 -- Renzo Garces and Jairo Velez struck late as Peru recovered from a goal down to beat Haiti 2-1 in a friendly.

Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor opened the scoring with a 16th-minute strike, but Peru equalized after goalkeeper Johny Placide saved Fabio Gruber's close-range header only for Garces to fire in the rebound on Friday.

Velez completed the turnaround three minutes later, thumping a first-time effort past Placide after Haiti failed to deal with a corner.

The match was Haiti's last warmup fixture before the World Cup, which starts on Thursday in the United States, Mexico and Canada, according to Xinhua.
