Lucknow, Sept. 15 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on Tuesday accused the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state of diverting public attention from rising inflation instead of addressing the economic hardships faced by ordinary people.

In a statement, Rai said farmers, labourers, the middle class and working people were bearing the brunt of inflation, which he attributed to the BJP government's "wrong economic policies".

He said prices of essential commodities, including pulses, rice, edible oil, vegetables and milk, had been rising steadily, putting pressure on household budgets.
