Pilibhit, Feb. 15 -- An embezzlement case has surfaced in Pilibhit district, where a peon posted at Janata Inter College in Bisalpur allegedly siphoned Rs 1.01 crore from the government treasury, official sources said.

The accused, Ilham Shamsi, was officially appointed as a Class IV employee, but was working on clerical duties at the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) office, officials said on Sunday.

According to officials, he fraudulently transferred government funds to his wife Arshi Khatoon's bank account through 98 transactions between September 2024 and December 17, 2025.
