Washington, Sept. 2 -- The Pentagon is facing a strong institutional crisis following internal upheavals due to constantly growing pressure on the US military amid the Iran war, which is now into its seventh month.
The turmoil intensified Monday with the resignation of Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, a close friend and former Yale Law classmate of Vice President JD Vance who had emerged as a prominent figure in the Trump administration and was once viewed as a possible successor to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Driscoll, who had also been involved in some particularly sensitive diplomacy regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, stepped down after months of contention with Hegseth over Army leadership and modernisation.
