Washington, June 6 -- The Pentagon has reportedly become increasingly concerned about the rise in Israeli espionage operations in the US, raising the threat of counterintelligence from its closest ally in West Asia.
According to two current and one former US official cited by NBC News, the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) recently elevated its internal counterintelligence threat assessment for Jerusalem to level "critical".
The designation stems from growing concerns within the US defence establishment that Israel is intensifying its efforts to gather information about internal Trump administration's deliberations on Iran and broader regional policy, the officials said.
