Washington, May 15 -- The Pentagon has unveiled a sweeping plan to rebuild America's heavily shrinking missile inventory, announcing efforts to acquire more than 10,000 low-cost cruise missiles and potentially up to 12,000 cheaper hypersonic weapons after years of heavy weapons use across multiple conflicts.
The initiative marks the latest initiative by the US to rapidly expand munitions production, as supplies have fallen dangerously low following its large-scale military support to Ukraine and Israel, as well as conducting direct military operations in Iran in 2025 and 2026.
