Srinagar, Jan. 23 -- People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday expressed sadness that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah didn't take up the issue of profiling of mosques and summons being issued to journalists with union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent meeting.

Mehbooba alleged that the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir had remained completely silent on issues affecting the people.

"When (Omar Abdullah) government was formed, there was a hope that pressure on civilians would ease a little. Unfortunately, the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that the most senior and respected journalists are now being called to police stations," Mehbooba told reporters in Srinagar.
