Patna, Sept. 2 -- The Patna High Court has ruled that COVID-19 compensation cannot be denied to grieving families simply because testing occurred at an unauthorized laboratory.

In his judgement, copy of which was uploaded on Wednesday, Justice Alok Kumar directed Bihar authorities to reconsider the rejected claims of eight petitioners within four weeks.

The petitioners lost family members between April and May 2021 during the peak of the pandemic''s second wave in Mokama and Maranchi.

State committees had twice turned down the families'' applications under the Bihar Covid Sahayata Yojna 2022 on purely administrative grounds.
