Patna, Aug. 14 -- The Patna High Court has referred to a division bench a case concerning the permanent expulsion of an MBBS student accused of allowing another person to impersonate him in a university examination, observing that conflicting views in earlier judgments required authoritative clarification.

Justice Harish Kumar, while hearing a petition filed by Aryabhatta Knowledge University student Arvind Kumar Mehta, said examination malpractice was like a "plague" that could destroy the education system of a society and a country if allowed to continue unchecked.
