Tehran, Aug. 10 -- Iran's parliament will have the final say on whether the country ratifies the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said Monday, rejecting suggestions that Tehran's move was influenced by recent regional developments or pressure from another country.
Speaking at his weekly press conference in Tehran, Baqaei said Iran makes decisions on international agreements independently and based solely on its national interests.
The convention, signed by the five Caspian Sea littoral states - Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan - in August 2018, had been under review by the Foreign Ministry and other relevant institutions for several years before being submi...
