Bengaluru, May 20 -- Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday renewed his demand to rename Tumakuru as "Bengaluru North," citing its proximity to the state capital and ongoing infrastructure expansion.
Speaking at a convention marking three years of the Congress government in the state, Parameshwara said the district, located around 60 km from Bengaluru, should be integrated more closely with the capital region to attract investment and improve connectivity.
He also pointed to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's move to rename Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South, arguing that Tumakuru should similarly be designated as Bengaluru North.
