Lucknow, May 23 -- Now it is almost final that Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held only after the 2027 Assembly elections.

The tenure of the village heads (Gram Pradhans) of the state's 57,695 Gram Panchayats ends in the next three days on May 26.

Consequently, the Panchayati Raj Department has sent a proposal to the Chief Minister to appoint village administrators after the pradhans' terms end.
