Rio De Janeiro, Sept. 13 -- Murilo Cerqueira and Vitor Roque scored either side of halftime as Palmeiras eased to a 2-0 home win over 10-man Sao Paulo in Brazil's Serie A.
The visitors were handed a numerical disadvantage in the 39th minute when Luis Osorio was shown a straight red card for a bad challenge on Joaquin Piquerez on Saturday.
Cerqueira opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time with a first-time effort after Agustin Giay's headed pass. Roque doubled the advantage five minutes after the restart, combiningwith Khellven to tap in from close range.
The result leaves Palmeiras top of the 20-team standings with 56 points, two clear of second-placed Flamengo, which has a game in hand, according to Xinhua.
