Rio De Janeiro, Oct. 22 -- Marlon Freitas converted the decisive spot kick as Palmeiras reached the Copa Libertadores final by beating Fluminense 5-3 on penalties.
Midfielder Hercules scored in the 82nd minute at Allianz Parque to give Fluminense a 1-0 lead and level the tie on aggregate on Wednesday.
Nonato missed with Fluminense's fourth attempt of the shootout before Freitas held his nerve to send Palmeiras into the final of South America's premier club competition for the fourth time in seven years, according to Xinhua.
"I've said before that we might be living through the best moment in the club's history," Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira told a post-match news conference.
