Islamabad, Nov. 3 -- The Pakistan Navy is gearing up to induct the first of the eight Chinese-built Hangor-class submarines into active service by 2026.

The move has been called a significant milestone in the country's bid to modernise its increasingly outdated naval capabilities.

Aimed at improving its own maritime security and strengthening its own strategic position, amid strong insecurities among officials due to the Indian Navy's far superior fleet, and its hegemonic domination of the Indian Ocean - Pakistan hopes to rebalance some of this gap in capabilities through its partnership with China.
