New Delhi, Aug. 2 -- India's Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, has defended New Delhi's decision to keep the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) in abeyance, asserting that Pakistan had steadily eroded the spirit of goodwill and friendship on which the 1960 pact was founded.
In an interview with Newsweek, Kwatra said Pakistan's conduct over the past several decades had undermined the very basis of the treaty, while also accusing Islamabad of obstructing India's legitimate rights under the agreement and continuing to sponsor cross-border terrorism.
