Parwinder SandhuNew Delhi, March 11 -- Former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ambassador Ajay Bisaria (retd.) on Wednesday said Pakistan's military has evolved from overt coups to what he described as "smarter, coup-less coups," where the army maintains control over political power while retaining a civilian facade.
Given a talk on "Coup-less Coup - Impact of Pakistan Military Involvement in Politics on its Foreign Policy and Future Engagements with India" at a seminar on Changing Dynamics in India's Neighbourhood organised by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), Bisaria said Pakistan's political trajectory shows a continuous pattern of military dominance despite the absence of formal coups in recent years.
