Padikkal's 167, Jurel's counterattack put India in command

Galle, Aug. 16 -- Devdutt Padikkal's majestic 167 and Dhruv Jurel's aggressive half-century powered India to a commanding 460 for nine at stumps on the second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium here on Sunday.

Padikkal was the architect of India's imposing total, producing a career-defining 230-ball knock laced with 15 fours and a six. Resuming on 131, the left-hander dominated the Sri Lankan attack, reached 150 off 215 deliveries and eventually fell for 167, stumped by Niroshan Dickwella off Prabath Jayasuriya.
