Owaisi alleges SIR exercise being used to exclude poor, muslims from electoral process

Hyderabad, June 3 -- AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday alleged that the Centre was using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to create a "permanent class of excluded Indians" and target Muslims, women, migrants and the poor.

In a post on social media platform X, Owaisi claimed that the union government had first carried out a "document-driven SIR" that allegedly resulted in the deletion of nearly 6.5 crore names from electoral rolls across 13 states and union Territories.

He alleged that the government now intended to create a permanent system for the identification, detention and deportation of illegal immigrants through a committee studying those exclusions.
