Pankaj JainNew Delhi, Feb. 1 -- More than Rs. 55,600 crore has been allocated for the ''Viksit Bharat G Ram G'' scheme, as the Rural Development Department recorded a 21 per cent increase in its budget this year, union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Sunday, after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the union Budget 2026-27 in the Parliament.
He said the combined allocation for Rural Development and Agriculture has crossed Rs. 4.35 lakh crore.
Chouhan said over Rs 1.51 lakh crore, including states' contributions, has been provided for Viksit Bharat G Ram G alone.
On MGNREGA, he noted that while last year's overall allocation stood at around Rs. 86,000 crore, the Centre's share this year has been raised to over Rs. 95,692 cr...
