Patna, March 13 -- The Bihar government has disbursed Rs 1,047 crore for school uniforms to more than 93 lakh students studying in primary schools across the state during the current financial year.

Education Department sources said on Friday that an amount of Rs 1,047.08 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 93,12,192 students through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system under the Mukhyamantri Balika Poshak Yojana and Mukhyamantri Poshak Yojana launched in 2008-09.

The sources said that under the scheme, girls get Rs 600 for classes 1 and 2, Rs 700 for classes 3 to 5, Rs 1,000 for classes 6 to 8 while boy students of class 1 and 2 in APL category get Rs 400 , SC/ST and BPL category get Rs 600 and Rs 500 respecti...
