Chandigarh, Aug. 28 -- A major breach in the Ravi River embankment near Ajnala has worsened the flood situation, leaving thousands of residents in distress. Rising waters have inundated several villages, forcing families to abandon their homes as water levels reached up to five feet inside residential areas.

Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who has been on the ground since morning, said in a media interaction that around 360 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and nearly 5,000 civilians are currently trapped due to the floods. He expressed concern over inadequate government arrangements, stating that the situation remains extremely critical.
