Nagpur, Aug. 19 -- : More than 25,000 former Maoist cadres have become shareholders of Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd, marking an effort by the company to facilitate their economic rehabilitation and bring them into the mainstream, Managing Director Balasubramanian Prabhakaran said.

Addressing a startup conclave at VNIT in Nagpur on Tuesday, Prabhakaran said former Maoists were being provided opportunities across several areas of the company's operations, including production, manufacturing, logistics, marketing and supply chain management.

"Naxalism is history now. Over 25,000 former Naxals are now our shareholders," he said, stressing that the objective was to make them partners in economic activity and not merely workers or employees.
