Mumbai, April 1 -- The Maharashtra School Education Department has recorded an overwhelming response to admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the 2026-27 academic year, with more than 2.87 lakh applications submitted for the 25 per cent reserved quota in private unaided schools across the state.

The surge in applications significantly exceeds the total availability of 1,14,833 seats across 8,701 schools, highlighting intense competition among applicants.
