Chandigarh, April 9 -- A grand jatha of 2,840 Sikh pilgrims is set to cross the border into Pakistan on Friday to mark the historic occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) concluded the final preparations for the spiritual journey on Thursday by distributing passports to the devotees at its headquarters in Amritsar.
Out of the 1,795 visa applications processed by the SGPC, 1,763 were approved by the authorities, while 32 were rejected.
This collective delegation also includes 409 pilgrims from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and 255 from the Haryana Committee, representing a unified cross-section of the community from across India.
