Siliguri, Feb. 22 -- A case of alleged violence against a Scheduled Tribe woman in Jhamaklal village under Phansidewa police station in Darjeeling district, has been taken up with constitutional authorities by Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, who has sought urgent intervention.

Representations have been submitted to the Governor of West Bengal, C. V. Ananda Bose, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, and the National Human Rights Commission, highlighting the alleged assault of a seven-month pregnant Adivasi woman on December 23, 2025 following resistance to the illegal transfer of ancestral tribal land.
