Bhubaneswar, May 6 -- The Orissa High Court has issued a set of directions to safeguard the identity of victims in sexual offence cases, in compliance with a judgment pronounced by the Supreme Court of India on March 24 last.

The Registrar General of Orissa High Court yesterday communicated these mandatory directions to the Advocate General, Chairman of the Odisha State Bar Council, Deputy Solicitor General of India for the High Court, and Secretary of the High Court Bar Association.

The directions have come into force with immediate effect, with the High Court issuing a warning that any deviation will be viewed seriously.
