Bhubaneswar, Feb. 3 -- The Orissa High Court has directed the district magistrate and Collector Sambalpur to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation to a man who was sacked from a driver job more than two decades back.
The petitioner had earlier moved the then State Administrative Tribunal challenging the dismissal order. The Tribunal, in an order way back in 2002, had ruled that "it is expected that it would be possible to adjust him in some post either under the Collector or under the Chief District Medical Officer.
The authorities concerned, however, did not reengage the petitioner for want of vehicles at the disposal of the departments.
