Bhubaneswar, June 27 -- The Orissa High Court has granted the Odisha Government three months to take a policy decision on extending a monthly pension scheme to journalists aged 60 years and above, observing that the issue is under active consideration by the State.
Justice S.K. Panigrahi passed the order while hearing a contempt petition filed by the Senior Journalists' Association, Odisha (SJAO), which alleged non-compliance with the Court's earlier direction to decide its representation seeking pension for veteran journalists.
The Court directed the State Government to take an appropriate decision on the demand after considering administrative feasibility, availability of resources and other policy-related factors.
