New Delhi, Oct. 12 -- Leaders of more than 20 Opposition parties have renewed their appeal to the Supreme Court to intervene in what they describe as a deepening crisis of electoral integrity, alleging systematic manipulation of electoral processes, arbitrary deletion of voters and partisan conduct by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

In a letter dated June 28, 2026, reissued on Monday, October 12, the Opposition leaders urged Chief Justice of India and the other judges of the Supreme Court to suspend the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, examine alleged irregularities in recent elections and initiate a wider debate on restoring ballot papers to safeguard public confidence in the democratic process.
