Bhubaneswar, March 25 -- Wearing black T-shirts, members of the Opposition BJD and Congress staged a novel protest inside the Odisha Assembly on Wednesday, stalling proceedings and demanding the resignation of State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling over the SCB Medical College and Hospital fire tragedy on March 16, which claimed the lives of twelve patients.
Since March 17, the Assembly has witnessed continuous uproar from the Opposition over the incident, disrupting proceedings during the pre-lunch session and forcing Speaker Surama Padhy to adjourn the House daily until 4 PM, with little business being conducted.
