Thiruvananthapuram, May 29 -- The newly formed Kerala government led by Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan has come under criticism over allegations that women, particularly those from backward and Dalit communities, have been completely excluded from the personal staff appointments made to the offices of the Chief Minister and various ministers.

A statement issued by social justice advocates and political activists alleged that none of the appointments announced so far include women or representatives from marginalised communities. The criticism intensified after it emerged that all 20 members appointed to the Chief Minister's personal staff are men.
