Mumbai, March 26 -- Leader of the Congress Legislative Party Vijay Wadettiwar on Thursday levelled serious allegations of large-scale corruption within Maharashtra's transport department, claiming that a well-organised racket involving transfers and illegal monetary collections is actively operating within the Regional Transport Office (RTO) system.

Wadettiwar stated that honest officers are allegedly being targeted and pressured through fabricated cases, while the system is said to be functioning with the support of retired officials. He claimed that these former officers continue to play a significant role in sustaining unlawful practices within the department.
