Mumbai, May 26 -- The opposition parties in Maharashtra have slammed the Centre for the fourth consecutive fuel price hike in the last 10 days, cumulatively raising fuel prices by around Rs 7 per litre.

Lashing out at the Centre, senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar accused the government of driving the country into a crisis worse than the pandemic era due to flawed economic and foreign policies.

"This fuel crisis is artificial and a direct result of the government's wrong policies. Yesterday, the US imposed another dictate on India, asking it to stop buying cheaper oil from Iran and Russia, forcing us to purchase expensive American oil instead," Wadettiwar claimed while speaking to reporters on Monday morning.
