Aizawl, May 14 -- Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Wednesday said Mizoram has utilised only about one-fourth of its total fish farming potential, stressing the need for scientific fish cultivation and improved productivity to strengthen the sector.

He was addressing the Mizoram Fish Farmers' Meet organised by the Fisheries Department at Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall. Fisheries Minister Lalthansanga attended the programme as guest of honour.

Speaking at the gathering, the Chief Minister said Mizoram possesses nearly 24,000 hectares of land suitable for fish farming, but fish ponds have so far been developed in only around 6,000 hectares.
