Asansol, April 25 -- Police in Asansol have arrested one person on charges of trying to kill Asansol South sitting MLA and BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul on polling day, April 23.
Jayant Biswas, a resident of Bankura had lodged an FIR over email at the Hirapur Police Station after the elections were over on April 23, alleging that there was a deliberate attempt to murder the BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul near Alamnagar Urdu School.
Ashgar Ali (49), a resident of Rahamat Nagar in Burnpur, was arrested by Hirapur Police Station, under Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate (ADPC), after investigations under section 126(2)/ 324 (4)/3(5)/109 of BNS.
