Shamli, Oct. 24 -- A wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh was shot dead in an encounter with the police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Faisal, a shooter linked to the notorious Sanjeev Jeeva gang, police said today.
The encounter took place in the Bhogimajra forest area after police received intelligence that some criminals were planning a robbery on the Vedkhedi road.
Acting on the tip-off, a joint team of the Jhinjhana police station and SOG surrounded the suspects. As the police closed in, the miscreants opened fire, prompting retaliatory action from the forces.
