Mumbai, July 20 -- A 65-year-old pedestrian was killed and two BEST employees were injured after a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus lost control and crashed into a road divider on the Sion-Panvel Highway at Mankhurd in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai on Monday morning, police said.
The accident occurred at 09 am near Vishwakarma Hospital when the Route No. 501 BEST bus, travelling towards Vashi, allegedly veered off its lane and rammed into the central divider. The impact fatally injured Bhaskar Raosaheb Pandey (65), who was standing near the divider at the time of the accident.
Officials at Rajawadi Hospital said Pandey was brought to the hospital with grievous injuries but was declared dead before admission.
