Muzaffarpur, Nov. 2 -- A powerful explosion caused by a leak in a piped natural gas (PNG) pipeline in the Gobarsahi-Dumri area of Muzaffarpur city on Monday left one youth dead and more than five others injured.
According to official sources, a JCB machine was carrying out excavation work near the site when the PNG pipeline was accidentally damaged, resulting in a gas leak. Shortly afterwards, a massive explosion occurred, damaging nearby buildings.
Upon receiving information, teams from the district administration, police and fire department rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after considerable effort and launched rescue and relief operations.
The injured were admitted in a local hospital.
