Nagpur, Aug. 21 -- : A one-day-old baby girl allegedly went missing from Daga Hospital in Nagpur on Friday , sparking concern among her family members and prompting police to launch an investigation, officials said.
The newborn baby reportedly disappeared from the hospital premises, following which the family alerted the police.
According to preliminary information, a woman wearing a burqa allegedly took the infant for registration , after allegedly misleading the baby's grandmother on the pretext of helping her avail benefits under government schemes .
The suspect, who had taken the baby on the pretext of submitting an application, went towards the outpatient department. After some time, the woman disappeared, said police.
