Srinagar, Sept. 10 -- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday defended National Conference (NC) spokesperson and MLA Tanvir Sadiq over his remarks on the poverty of Kashmiris, saying there was no historical inaccuracy in what the party leader had said and that he did not need to apologise or offer any clarification.

A political controversy erupted after Sadiq, while speaking on the death anniversary of NC founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on September 8, said that Kashmiris were once so poor that "one pyjama (trouser) was shared by an entire mohalla".
