Muscat, July 11 -- Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman on Saturday for talks focused on the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route where attacks on commercial vessels after June 18 MoU has led to the termination of the ceasefire agreement and the US military resumed strikes in Iran, including attacks near Chabahar port that disrupted power supplies and at an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) barracks in Bushehr.

The visit comes as mediators try to revive diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran and prevent further escalation.

US officials say they expect Iran to soon announce that the strait remains open and that commercial vessels will not be targeted.
