Om Birla appeals to parties to break Lok Sabha deadlock, says 'let the House function'

New Delhi, Aug. 10 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla made an emotional appeal to floor leaders of political parties at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting on Monday, urging them to cooperate in ending the prolonged deadlock in the House and allow Parliament to take up matters concerning the people.

Sources said Birla emphasised that Parliament must remain a forum where the concerns of citizens are raised, debated and addressed, and called upon political parties to facilitate the smooth conduct of Question Hour as well as discussions on key Bills and matters of public importance.
