Patna, June 22 -- : Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar today said that International Olympic Day symbolizes unity, sportsmanship and global friendship, while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle through sports without discrimination.
Kumar said here today that the observance aims to encourage people, particularly the youth, to participate in sports and embrace the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
He noted that the International Olympic Committee was established in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin and is responsible for organizing the Olympic Games.
