Panchkula, June 21 -- A major tragedy struck Haryana's Kurukshetra district in the early hours of Sunday when the nearly 108-foot-high dome of the historic Nageshwar Mahadev Temple suddenly collapsed, killing a temple caretaker who was trapped under the debris.
The incident occurred at the revered sub-Jyotirlinga shrine, causing extensive damage to parts of the temple complex, including the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha).
The collapse triggered panic among devotees and local residents, with large numbers of people rushing to the temple premises after news of the incident spread.
Authorities said the exact reason behind the sudden collapse of the massive dome is yet to be ascertained.
