Panchkula, Aug. 25 -- Haryana is pushing farmers towards high-yielding oilseed crops as part of efforts to reduce the country's dependence on imported edible oil while creating better income opportunities for farmers, Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma said today.
Addressing at a district-level farmers' fair organised by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department at Mandi Barwala under the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oilseeds, Sharma said the focus should not be limited to increasing production but also on reducing cultivation costs and ensuring better returns for farmers.
